FLUSHING, N.Y. - A strong defensive effort by the Roberts Wesleyan men's basketball team was one of the keys to conquering the court and coming out with a 72-60 win over Queens College on Friday night.
Â
The Redhawks pressured the Knights to turn the ball over 15 times while forcing six steals and eight blocks on the night.
Â
Offensively the Redhawks looked to junior
Peyton McLaurin who had the hot hand on the night. McLaurin went 6 of 9 (66%) from beyond the three-point arc, and scored a total of 21-points. The junior guard currently leads the team in three-point percentage, sinking 49-percent of his three-point baskets; and has made 26 three-pointers on the season.
Â
Team Balance was another factor in securing the win over Queens. The Redhawks had four players achieve double digit scoring. Senior guard
Manny Joseph had a solid performance with seven rebounds, and led the team with five assists.
Â
The Redhawks look to improve their 12-5 record tomorrow afternoon as the take on the Molloy College Lions on the road at 2 p.m.
