Men's Basketball Defeats Queens, 72-60

FLUSHING, N.Y. - A strong defensive effort by the Roberts Wesleyan men's basketball team was one of the keys to conquering the court and coming out with a 72-60 win over Queens College on Friday night.

The Redhawks pressured the Knights to turn the ball over 15 times while forcing six steals and eight blocks on the night.

Offensively the Redhawks looked to junior Peyton McLaurin who had the hot hand on the night. McLaurin went 6 of 9 (66%) from beyond the three-point arc, and scored a total of 21-points. The junior guard currently leads the team in three-point percentage, sinking  49-percent of his three-point baskets; and has made 26 three-pointers on the season.

Team Balance was another factor in securing the win over Queens. The Redhawks had four players achieve double digit scoring. Senior guard Manny Joseph had a solid performance with seven rebounds, and led the team with five assists.

The Redhawks look to improve their 12-5 record tomorrow afternoon as the take on the Molloy College Lions on the road at 2 p.m.
