ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team rolled past East Coast Conference opponent Mercy on Sunday with a dominating 77-53 win.
Lucy Covley finished the game with 20 points to lead all scorers. The senior was 6 of 10 from beyond the arc. Covley also had six rebounds and one assist. Sophomore
Emily Miller had a double-double with 17 points and a single game career high in rebounds with 18.
The Redhawks never trailed in the contest and started the game on a 9-0 run. By the end of the first quarter Roberts was in control of the game holding a 19 point lead. The Redhawks took their largest lead of the game midway through the fourth quarter when a layup by
Necedah James gave Roberts a 35 point advantage.
Mercy was cold from the field the entire game shooting 18-for- 63 (28.6%) while the Redhawks connected on nearly 42 percent of their shots.
Roberts now holds an overall record of 15-6 and 9-2 in the ECC. Up next for the Redhawks is the University of the District of Columbia on the road. The game will be played on Friday, February 2 at 5 p.m.
