ROCHESTER, N.Y. – It took three overtime periods to decide a winner but the Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team came out victorious on Saturday afternoon defeating thruway rival Daemen, 97-91.
Taya Andrews scored a career-high 29 points and was one rebound shy of a double-double. Andrews also scored the go-ahead basket in the third overtime.
Emily Miller posted her eighth double-double of the season with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
Necedah James added 20 points of her own along with six assists. The senior is now just three points shy of the 1,000 career point mark with the Redhawks.
The Redhawks had to fight off a nine point deficit in the fourth quarter to force overtime. Daemen held a 66-57 lead with 4:30 left in the game. A steal and basket by Andrews cut the lead to two points with 1:15 remaining and Miller provided the tying bucket with four seconds left on the clock. Andrews took over in the extra periods for the Redhawks scoring 13 of her 29 points.

The win boosted Roberts' record to 10-5 overall and 4-1 in the East Coast Conference while the Wildcats fall to 4-10 and 1-3 in the conference.
Daemen was led by senior Sarah Saba's 23 points and seven assists. Four other Wildcats scored in double digits.
The Redhawks will prepare for a home game on Friday against NYIT. The game is slated for 6 p.m. in the Voller Athletic Center. The last time the two teams met was in the first round of the ECC playoffs last season where NYIT moved on with an 80-69 win.
