ROCHESTER, N.Y.– On Saturday afternoon, the Roberts Wesleyan men's soccer team fell to conference opponent The University of The District of Columbia in overtime, 2-1.
 
The first half appeared to be a battle of possession as the Firebirds of U.D.C. outshot the Redhawks 10-1. Fast forward to the second half, the Firebirds would open up the scoring in the 68
th minute as attacker Gabriel Torres took a shot inside the box, finding its way into the corner of net.
 
The Redhawks would bounce back just minutes later in the 71st as sophomore 
Johanz Tusiime received a pass inside the box that would set up a successful attempt on goal, making the score 1-1. Making our way into overtime, the Firebirds sealed up their victory early in the 93
rd minute when Michel Egbame dribbled the ball inside the box, sneaking a shot past the Roberts back line making the final score 2-1. 
 
The Redhawks managed to get six total shots off during the game. Two of these attempts were on goal. Also, senior goalkeeper 
Ben Hastings played the entire game and added five saves on the season.
 
Next up for the Roberts Wesleyan men's soccer team is another ECC conference matchup against Mercy College at home. The game is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, October 17 and kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
