ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan men's soccer team scored a late overtime goal to secure a 2-1 win against Molloy College on Saturday afternoon.
Molly would open up the scoring first in the 19
th minute as a Lions attacker received a pass inside the box managing to put the ball in the Redhawks net. Fast forward to late in the second half; the Redhawks would score two goals to seal up a victory on the road.
The first goal for the Redhawks came from a timely pass from junior
Terrell Spencer to freshman Alex Perex Vega who was successful on his shot attempt, making the score 1-1 in the 80
th minute. The game would head to overtime and shortly Roberts would find the back of the Molloy net one more time. In the 100
th minute,
Terrell Spencer would put his free kick from 20 yards out past the opposing goalkeeper making the final score 2-1.
Both Roberts and Molloy had eight shots on goal for the afternoon. Also, Redhawk goalkeepers, senior
Ben Hastings and sophomore
Joe McNulty, split time in net. Hastings added four saves while McNulty added three.
