SPARKILL, N.Y. – A late second half goal was the difference in Thursday's East Coast Conference men's soccer matchup as Roberts Wesleyan fell to St. Thomas Aquinas, 1-0.
The lone goal of the game was scored in the 76
th minute by Federico Scaglioni following a free kick 25 yards out by the Spartans. Scaglioni was on the receiving end of a headed down ball on the near side of the net where he tapped the shot in before Redhawks' goalie
Ben Hastings could have a chance to make the save.
Hastings played the full 90 in net making four saves along the way. STAC goalkeeper Jack Nicholson had to make just one save in goal for the game.
Despite very different records with the Redhawks at 3-4-3 (0-3-1) and STAC 6-2-1 (2-1) both teams played an evenly contested match for the majority of the game.
