Women’s Basketball Falls Short to Saint Rose, 58-57

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – After an action-packed game at the Voller Athletic Center on Saturday afternoon, the Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team fell short to The College of Saint Rose as they lost 58-57 in late battle inside the arc.

The Redhawks and the Golden Knights stayed close to each other on the scoreboard as Roberts would end up shooting 33% from the field going 20-of-61 while going 3-of-13 (23%) from the three point line and 14-of-17 (82%) from the free throw line. Saint Rose finished by shooting 23-for-56 (41%) while also going 5-of-21 (24%) from three-point range and 7-of-15 (47%) on free throws.

Junior forward Emily Miller led the Redhawks with 23 points. The Buffalo, N.Y. native also went 7-of-8 on free throws and added an impressive 16 rebounds and two steals on the day. Senior guard Taylor Bynoe had 17 points and also came away with nine rebounds and went 4-of-4 on free throws.

The Redhawks' largest lead came in the beginning of the first quarter with 8:09 on the clock. Robert led by five but the game would end up being a close battle for the rest on the contest.

Roberts Wesleyan was able to squash a five-point deficit early in the fourth quarter making it a close contest for the remainder of the game. A jumper and layup made by junior Tashayla Sutorius cut the Knights' lead short. Sutorius was able to draw the foul with 6:07 left, making the free throw and coming within one point of the Golden Knights. Both teams traded shots and with five minutes left, Bynoe hit a three pointer, taking the lead 53-51. Just a few moments later, Bynoe would make another layup in the paint for the Redhawks to take the lead by two. However, after a few comeback points from Knights' forward Zoe McDonald and few late free throws, Saint Rose was able to pull off the win.

Next up for the Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team is a road trip to Orangeburg, NY as they take on Felician College on Friday, November 16. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
