Redhawks Get First Win of Season Against Felician, 73-62

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team managed to get their first win of the season against Felician College, 73-62. The game was the Redhawks' first of two games at the Annual Regina Memorial Tournament hosted by Dominican College.

The Redhawks outshot the Golden Falcons as Roberts would go 22-for-55 (40%) from the field and went 6-for-15 (40%) from three-point territory. The Golden Falcons ended up shooting 22-for-66 (33 %) from the field and 9-for-31 (29%) on three-pointers.

Leading the charge for the Redhawks was junior guard Sara Nady and junior forward Emily Miller. Nady went on to score 16 points; four of these attempts came from three pointers. The Cairo, Egypt native also added two assists and two steals. Miller would have a double-double scoring 14 points and scooping up 15 rebounds. The Buffalo, New York native also added two assists and two steals.

Roberts would finish the first quarter down by five points but the Redhawks regrouped and came back and take the lead before halftime, 34-27. This was attributed to the aggressive play in the paint by freshman Dimitra Gkizani and senior Taylor Bynoe as well as impressive defense on the other end of the court.

The second half appeared to be all Redhawks as Roberts would take a 10-point lead early in the third quarter. However, Roberts' lead would trickle down to only one by the end of the quarter. The Golden Falcons would fight back but a few late jumpers made from freshman forward Taryn Wilson and a foul drawn by Sara Nady would seal up the win for the Redhawks.

Next up for the Redhawks (1-2-0, 0-0-0 ECC) is their second game of the 6thannual Regina Rivera Memorial Tournament in Orangeburg, N.Y. The game, which is to be played on Saturday, November 17, is scheduled for 1 PM and will face Dominican College.
