ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – In their second win of the season, the Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team defeated Dominican College 75-58 in their second game of the 6
thAnnual Regina Rivera Memorial Tournament on Saturday afternoon.
The Redhawks improved their shooting by going 23-for-44 (50%) from the field, 3-for-7 from three-pointers (43%), and had an impressive day at the free-throw line going 26-of-29 (90 %).The Mustangs ended the day going 21-for-59 from the field and 5-for-18 (29%) from three-point range.
Four different Redhawks had double digits in points. Junior forward
Emily Miller led Roberts with another double-double scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Miller also added a block and two steals. Senior
Taylor Bynoe ended the day with 15 points while freshman
Taryn Wilson would add 14 points for the Redhawks.
The Redhawks led the Mustangs 19-10 at the end of the first quarter and would jump to a 16-point lead in the second only for the Mustangs to cut the lead to 9 points at halftime. After two periods, the score was 32-23.
Their largest lead for the Redahwks cam in the third quarter as they led by 20 points with four minutes left on the clock. For the remainder of the game, the Mustangs tried to chip away at the lead but would be no match as the Redhawks pealed away by capitalizing on drawn fouls and free-throw attempts.
Next up for the Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team is a home game against Mansfield University on Tuesday, November 20. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 PM.
