Miller Scores 1,000th Point in Win Over Chestnut Hill

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Junior Emily Miller scored her 1000thpoint to help lead the Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team to an 81-62 win over Chestnut Hill University on Saturday afternoon.

Miller ended her day going 5-for-13 from the field and a perfect 8-for-8 on free throws making her total 18 points on the day. The Buffalo, N.Y. native also added 13 rebounds, and five steals to her double-double performance.

Overall, the Redhawks outplayed the Griffins offensively the entire game as Roberts went 32-for-64 (50%) from the field, 8-for-19 (42%) from three-point range, and an impressive 9-for-11 (82%) on free throws. The Griffins ended the game going 20-for-57 (35%) from the field and 15-for-21 (71%) from the free throw line.

The Redhawks fell behind up until the middle of the second quarter as aggressive play in the paint by freshman Dimitra Gkizani and senior Taylor Bynoe helped the Redhawks bounce back. Also, a couple of made three-pointers by junior guard Sara Nady would help give Roberts an 11-point lead going in halftime.

The second half was all Roberts as the Redhawks immediately answered back on nearly every point that was scored by the Griffins. The largest lead for Roberts came in the 4thquarter with 2:46 left on the clock, leading by 23.

Some other notable performances from the Saturday's action include Sara Nady's team leading 19 points, scoring on five three-pointers. Bynoe's 16 points and another 13 points from Tashayla Sutorius played a large role in the Redhawks win as well.

Next up for the Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team is a nationally spotlighted matchup against Daemen College. Tip-off for the 'Code Red' game on Wednesday, December 5 is scheduled for 6 PM.
