ROCHESTER, N.Y. – In a packed house at the Voller Athletic Center on Wednesday night, the Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team was not able to come away with the win against 'Thruway Rival' Daemen College. The Redhawks would come up short with a final score of 70-72.
The Redhawks ended the evening going 27-for-57 (47%) from the field and 9-for-22 (41%) from three-point range. Missed foul shots proved to be a factor in the loss, as Roberts would go 7-for-17 (41%) from the line. The Wildcats of Daemen finished the night by shooting 27-for-66 (41%) from the field and 6-for-7 (88%) from the charity stripe.
Four different Redhawks scored in the double digits on the night. Junior
Sara Nady added 19 points, six assists, and five steals while forward
Emily Miller's double-double added 15 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists.
The Redhawks' largest lead of 13 points came in the 2nd quarter with 6:55 left on the clock. The lead would be cut to seven to begin the third quarter, as a late three pointer from a Wildcat scorer would dwindle Roberts' lead.
Daemen would battle their way back and capture the win late in the fourth quarter by capitalizing on three-point plays and free throw opportunities.
Next up for the Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team is another ECC matchup against NYIT on Friday, December 14. Tip-off in Old Westbury, N.Y. is scheduled for 5 PM.
