BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team fell to conference opponent LIU Post on Sunday afternoon with a final score of 80-67.
The Redhawks ended the day going 27-for-60 (45%) from the field, 12-for-18 (68%) from the free throw line, and only managed to get one of their seven attempts from three-point range made.
LIU Post ended their day by shooting 27-for-62 (44%) from the field and went 12-for-13 (92%) from the charity stripe.
Led by junior
Emily Miller's 26 points and six rebounds, two other Redhawks also scored double-digits during Sunday's matchup. Junior forward
Tashayla Sutorius ended the game by scoring 16 points and recording four rebounds and four assists. Freshman
Dimitra Gkizani recorded a double-double as she scored 16 points and recorded 11 rebounds.
The Redhawks lead most of the first half but the Pioneers would bounce back at the end of the second quarter to take a five-point lead going into halftime.
Roberts struggled in the second half as almost every point scored was immediately answered back by the Pioneers. LIU Post would eventually take their lead of 17 points with three minutes left to play and try to run the clock without giving up their lead. A couple of made free throws and a late jump shot by
Savannah Hunter in the paint proved too late as the Pioneers would go on to win.
Next up for the Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team (4-5, 0-3 ECC) is a trip to Painesville, Ohio as they take on Lake Erie College on Wednesday, December 19. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 PM.
