BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan men's basketball team won its second East Coast Conference game in a row on Sunday defeating LIU Post 81-69.
Isaiah Lewis led the Redhawks with 20 points in 24 minutes on the floor. The junior guard was 8-of-16 (50%) from the field and 3-of-7 (43%) from beyond the arc.
Roberts held LIU Post to under 10 points for over 14 minutes of play in the first half. During this stretch the Redhawks built a 23 point lead. At the halftime break Roberts had a 45-23 advantage.
LIU Post outscored the Redhawks 46-36 in the second half but the score never seemed in danger as Roberts kept the Pioneers at a double digit deficit for the entire half.
LIU Post was led by sophomore guard/forward Alonzo Ortiz-Traylor who totaled 28 points and 13 rebounds.
While holding a large lead the Redhawks were able to go deep into the bench for minutes resulting in a 25-9 advantage in scoring off the bench. Roberts also outscored the Pioneers in fast break points, 20-8.
Roberts Wesleyan (5-4, 2-1 ECC) will have a few weeks off from competition before returning to a home game against Franklin Pierce University on January 8th at 3 p.m.
