ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team got back on track on Saturday with a 66-57 win over Molloy College.
Lucy Covley led the Redhawks with 12 points in her final regular season game in the Voller Athletic Center. The senior was 4-of-11 from three point range and also had two assists and three steals.
Holding on to a one point lead with six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter the Redhawks used an 11-2 run to take a 10 point lead with just under three minutes to play. The run was capped off by a Covley three pointer. Molloy was able to cut the lead to five points with under a minute to play but it wasn't enough as the Redhawks went 4-of-4 down the stretch from the free throw line.
It was a balanced attack on offense for Roberts with four players scoring double digits.
Emily Miller and
Taya Andrews had 11 points each and
Sara Nady scored 10 points.
The victory marks win number 18 for the Redhawks this season. At 18-8 and 12-4 in the East Coast Conference the Redhawks sit in third place and have already clinched a berth in the ECC Championships. Roberts will travel to NYIT on Friday and LIU Post on Sunday for the final two regular season games.
