ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's lacrosse team took down non-conference opponent Chestnut Hill on Sunday's senior day game, 20-8.
Freshman
Emily Tomei led the Redhawks with 10 points off four goals and six assists.
Taylor Nathan had six goals on the day. Senior
Johannah Price added four goals and
Emily Knight posted three goals and three assists.
Roberts jumped out to take a 2-0 lead five minutes into the game and kept the Griffins trailing the entire game. The Redhawks closed the first half with three straight goals to take a 9-4 lead into halftime.
A strong defensive effort in the second half led to plenty of offensive opportunities. The Redhawks only allowed seven shots and five on goal in the second half. Sophomore goalkeeper
Victoria Greco had to make just one save in the half. Greco finished with 11 total saves. On the offensive side of the field Roberts fired off 23 shots in the second half resulting in 11 goals.
On Saturday the Redhawks will take on Molloy in Rockville Centre, N.Y. for a game that will decide who earns the No. 4 seed for the East Coast Conference playoffs. The game is set to begin at noon.
