Seton Hill Edges Past Roberts, 2-1

GREENSBURG, PA. – Two second half goals from Seton Hill proved to be too much for the Roberts Wesleyan men's soccer team this past Tuesday as the Redhawks lose 2-1.

Roberts started the scoring in the 17th minute when junior Terrell Spencer stole the ball inside the opposing box and easily sailed the ball into the back of the net making the score 1-0.

The second half appeared to be won offensively by Seton Hill as the Griffins outshot the Redhawks 9-2. Seton Hill came back into the game in the 58th minute when a shot from the opposition hit the post but was cleaned up by another Griffin, tying the game up 1-1. After battling for possession for most of the second half, Seton Hill scored a late goal in the 80th minute when one Griffin fed a long pass into the box, flicked onto the foot of another, and quickly managed to sneak a shot on goal to score. The final whistle would eventually be blown making the final score 2-1.

The Redhawks had eight shots and three of them on goal for the day. Spencer scored his fifth goal of the season and leads the team with 25 shots. Senior Ben Hastings played the entire game and had five saves.

The men's soccer team (2-2-3, 0-0-1) will hit the road this weekend for Amherst, NY as the Redhawks face their ECC "Thruway" rival Daemen College on September 22. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 PM.
