ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Roberts Wesleyan men's tennis team dropped its season opener 6-3 to crosstown rival University of Rochester on Wednesday afternoon.

The Yellowjackets jumped out to a 2-1 lead after the doubles portion of the match, winning 8-7 at first doubles and 8-6 at second doubles. The Redhawks picked up their doubles point at third doubles when Sophomores Tim Nacca and
Harmeet Luthra scored an 8-4 win.

The Yellowjackets got off to a fast start in the singles action. Maseru Fujimaki won easily at first singles over
Guido Janssen, 6-2, 6-3, and Yifan Shen had no trouble dispatching the Redhawks' Nacca in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. Â Â Wins at 4
th singles and 5
th singles secured the win for UofR. The Redhawks prevailed in the remaining matches.  Senior
Boyd Blackburn won a three setter at 3
rd singles, and senior
Andrew Freeman followed suit at sixth singles.Â

The 0-1 Redhawks are off until October 3
rd when they travel to Division I Â Niagara University.
