ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team faced the Firebirds of the University of the District of Columbia on Friday night. The Redhawks would go on to win by seven.
Roberts would end the night going 26-for-59 (44%) from the field, 5-for-18 (28%) from three-point range, and 6-for-7 (86%) from the free throw line. The Firebirds would end their trip to the Voller Athletic Center by going 19-for-60 from the field (32%), 11-for-30 (37%) on three-pointers, and 7-for-10 (70%) from the charity stripe.
The Redhawks were lead by junior
Emily Miller's 24-point performance. The Buffalo, New York native also added eight rebounds on the night. Some other notable performances from Friday night's matchup include 13 points, four rebounds, five assists, and three steals from junior guard
Sara Nady. Also, freshman
Dimitra Gkizani scored 13 points and recorded seven rebounds.
The largest lead for the Redhawks came in the 2
ndquarter as they were ahead by an impressive 24 points with 3:06 left in the half. The Firebirds would try to match Roberts' first half performance but would come up short in the last two quarters.
Next up for the Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team (9-9, 5-3 ECC) is a home matchup against conference opponent Saint Thomas Aquinas on Sunday, January 27. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 PM.
