ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team failed to come up with the win against Saint Michael's College on Friday afternoon. The Purple Knights took the 70-69 win at the Voller Athletic Center.
The Redhawks ended the day going 27-for-59 (46%) from the field, 3-for-13 (23%) from three-point range, and 12-for-17 (71%) on free throws. The Purple Knights came out of the contest shooting 28-for-66 (42%) from the field, and 8-for-21 (38%) on three point attempts.
Junior Emily ended the day with another double double scoring 22 points and recording 10 rebounds. Senior
Taylor Bynoe scored 15 points and added four rebounds and two assists, while
Sara Nady scored 10 points.
The Redhawks would go on to lead most of the first quarter but would change as the Purple Knights would go on a late nine-point run to take a two point lead at the end of the first. The second half the Redhawks picked up the pace trading jump shots with the Purple Knights. Roberts would go into halftime with a ten-point lead.
The second half proved to be a battle for who wanted it most. The Purple Knights eventually fought back to get within one point of the Redhawks late in the third quarter. It wasn't until early in the fourth quarter that both teams would trade the lead back and forth. A late layup from the Purple Knights with thirteen seconds left ended up sealing the victory for the visiting team.
Next up for the Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team is a matchup against Saint Anselm College on Saturday, January 5. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 PM.
