ROCHESTER, N.Y. – An own goal by New York Tech ended up being the difference in a 2-1 win for the Roberts Wesleyan men's soccer team on Wednesday night as the Redhawks improved to 6-5-1 on the season and 3-1 in the East Coast Conference.
With the game knotted at 1-1 at the 65:56 mark of the second half an attacking Roberts offense placed a cross into the box which was deflected into the goal by a Bears' defender. The misplayed ball by New York Tech would serve as the game-winner.
Roberts' opening goal was a first for senior
Dan Reger who tucked the ball away on a header off a
Terrell Spencer corner kick. The goal came in the 36th minute to put the Redhawks up 1-0.
Tech scored their lone goal of the game to tie the match up at one in the 61st minute. Bernd Schluter was the goal scorer with the assist going to Adrian Garcia.
Both teams fired off 10 shots with the Redhawks getting five on frame to the two of the Bears.
Roberts will host Molloy on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
