BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Two first half goals within a seven minute span was the difference in a 2-0 game that saw the University of Bridgeport defeat the Roberts Wesleyan men's soccer team in the East Coast Conference semifinals.
Leandro Avila scored both goals for the Purple Knights with the first coming in the 23
rd minute and the second coming in the 30
th minute.
The Redhawks had their lone opportunity on goal with three minutes to play in the first half when
Alex Perez Vega's shot was saved by Bridgeport.
Bridgeport controlled the pace and created 19 shots with eight on target. The hosts also had 11 corner kick chances with just one for the Redhawks.
Roberts finished the season with a 9-8-1 record and earned its first ever trip to ECC postseason play. The Redhawks have an opportunity to continue its season in NCCAA postseason play next week.
