Rachel Holmes recorded her 1,000th career dig during Saturday's senior game against Daemen College. The Redhawks fell to the Wildcats 3-0 in the final game of the 2019 season.
Holmes came in to the match needing seven digs to eclipse the 1,000 mark and picked up six of those digs in the first set. The Rancho Cucamonga native finished the match with 16 total digs to lead both teams.
In the first set the Redhawks used a six point run to take a 16-12 lead over Daemen, but the Wildcats stormed back with a seven point run of their own and carried the lead to a 25-22 set victory.
In the second set Roberts fell behind early by double digits. But two separate offensive runs allowed the team to fight their way back into the game. At 17-8 Roberts scored five straight to draw within four points of the lead. Another five point run at 19-15 gave the Redhawks a 20-19 advantage. At set point for Daemen, Roberts rallied for three points to tie the set at 24-24 but Daemen notched the final two points of the set to take a 2-0 advantage in the match.
In the third and final set it was all the visitors as the Wildcats found themselves up 20-8. Daemen would go on to win 25-16.
Emily Rowlison led with five kills for Roberts and also had 12 assists. Daemen had two players in double digits for kills. Jenn Heritz posted 11 and Courtney Bernard had 10.
Roberts concludes their season with a 2-22 overall record and 2-8 conference mark.
