DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan men's basketball team came up short on Sunday on the road at Mercy losing 82-74.
 
The Redhawks got off to the start they wanted going up 7-0 within the first two minutes of the game but eventually gave up the lead midway through the first half. The lead changed hands three time in the half with Mercy taking a 35-31 lead into the break.
 
Early in the second half the lead was passed back-and-forth six different times within the first four minutes. The Mavericks then took the lead for good with 16:21 left in the game.
 
Mercy found most of its offense from long range connecting on 11-of-23 (47.8%) from beyond the arc. Roberts was 7-of-21 (33.3%) from three point range. Junior guard Shane Fanning hit five of those three pointers for the Redhawks en route to his team leading 24 points.
 
Along with Fanning, Armon Nasseri (16 points, 7 rebounds) and Reggie Clark (16 points, 4 steals) were the other two Redhawks with double digit scoring.
 
Roberts falls to 2-9 on the season and 0-3 in the East Coast Conference. The team will travel to Franklin Pierce University on Wednesday and Saint Rose on Saturday.
