MANSFIELD, Pa. - A 67-62 thriller ended with the Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball topping the Mansfield Mounties on the road Wednesday night.
A double double by Taryn Wilson punctuated the Redhawks win with 13 rebounds and 13 points by the sophomore. Wilson shot 4-for-9 from the field (44.4%), 2-for-5 (40%) from beyond the arc, and was 3-for-3 (100%) in free throws.
Sara Nady and Emily Miller were two other Redhawks who broke into double digits scoring 16 and 15 points, respectively.
From the start it was a back and forth game with the Redhawks and the Mounties trading points causing lead changes nine times over the course of the four quarters. While the Mounties were the first on the board, Roberts went on two runs ending the first period 18-14.
The next period showed signs of hope for Mansfield but it was diminished as the game continued to unfold and the Redhawks out scored their rivals 35-28 in the second half. Ultimately, it was the free throws that made the difference for Roberts 20-for-24 (83.3%) compared to Mansfield's 5-for-9 (55.6%).
