AMHERST, N.Y. - The Roberts Wesleyan Women's basketball team dropped the East Coast Conference opener against Daemen College 70-47 Saturday night.
Roberts played a competitive first quarter with their largest lead extending to four points and ending 15-14 in favor of the Redhawks. The second quarter is where the Wildcats took a commanding lead with an 11 point run giving them the edge over Roberts. Daemen continued with the momentum and didn't allow Roberts back into the contest.
Roberts was 17-for-48 (37.5%) from the field, 4-for-18 (22.2%) from the three point line, and 9-for-10 (90%) for free throws. It was ultimately turnovers converted by the Wildcats for 34 points that gave them the win.
Emily Miller and Sara Nady were the leading point scorers for the Redhawks each with nine points. Miller also chalked up an assist, five rebounds, and two steals while Nady had two rebounds and an assist.
The women's basketball team is now 4-4 overall and 0-1 in the ECC. Next up, they continue their road games at Saint Thomas Aquinas on Friday, December 13th. Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m.
