OLEAN, N.Y. - The Roberts Wesleyan men's tennis team lost 6-1 to St. Bonaventure University in a match played at the University Tennis Center in Olean, N.Y.
The Redhawks took an early lead when they won the opening doubles point. East Region ranked doubles powerhouse
Guido Janssen and
Boyd Blackburn got the Redhawks started with a 6-3 win over Indra Patwardham and Lukas Malmberg at first singles. Junior
Dennis Barlotta and Sophomore
Matthew Forrest followed with a 6-1 win at second doubles over John Rutkowski and Marco Rivolo. Saint Bonaventure won at third doubles 6-1.
The singles portion of the match was all St. Bonaventure. The Bonnies took all six matches in straight sets. The closest the Redhawks came to getting a singles point was
Dennis Barlotta at 5
th singles. Barlotta lost a close 6-4, 6-4 match to Marco Rivolo.
The 6-4 Redhawks are off until March 19
th when they travel to Erie Pa. to play Atlantic Region powerhouse Mercyhurst University.
