ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's lacrosse team got its fourth East Coast Conference victory of the season with an 18-7 win over the University of Bridgeport on Saturday afternoon.
The win keeps Roberts in fourth place in the conference standings with two games left in the regular season, including a matchup against Molloy next Saturday that could determine home playoff status for the Redhawks.
Senior
Megan Burnham had one of her best games of the season with four goals. She also got off six shots on goal. Burnham led all scorers for the day.
Junior midfielder
Jessica Giancursio was the spark for the Redhawks all game long. The Penfield, N.Y. native filled up the stat sheet with two goals and three assists. Giancursio also had seven ground balls and nine draw controls.
Roberts had a dominant first half taking an 11-4 lead while stringing together six goals in an eight minute span.
The Redhawks controlled the pace of play throughout the game coming up with 20 draw controls to just five of Bridgeport and grabbing 27 ground balls compared to eight by the Purple Knights.
Roberts Wesleyan (11-3, 4-2 ECC) will host Molloy on Saturday at 2 p.m. The winner of the game will sit in fourth place in the ECC standings.
