ROCHESTER, N.Y. - In a battle for the No. 4 spot in the East Coast Conference standings the Roberts Wesleyan women's lacrosse team came up short against Molloy on Saturday, 13-9. The win for Molloy boosts the Lions above the Redhawks and sets the team up for a home postseason game while Roberts will have to travel to an away game.
Emily Tomei had six goals for Roberts but it wasn't enough as Molloy jumped out to a 7-1 lead and kept the Redhawks at a distance for the entire game. Late in the second half Roberts began to gain some ground on the visitors but the deficit was too large to make up as time ran out.
Junior midfielder Jessica Giancuriso's assist in the second half of the game tallied her 100th career point.
Roberts Wesleyan (11-4, 4-3 ECC) will travel to LIU Post on Saturday for the final game of the regular season.
