ROCHESTER, N.Y. – In the final game of the regular season the Roberts Wesleyan men's lacrosse team couldn't overcome NYIT as the Bears walked away with an 11-2 win on senior day for the Redhawks.
Scoring came at a premium in the first half but the Bears were able to get on the board four times to take a 4-0 lead into the halftime break.
The Redhawks opened the second half on the right foot following a goal by
Kyle Dunham to cut the deficit to three. But NYIT answered with five straight goals to all but clinch the game. Midway through the fourth quarter
Collin Waden added a goal off a feed from
Matt Gademske but it was not enough to bring the Redhawks back into the game.
Roberts Wesleyan (7-7, 3-3 ECC) will be the No. 4 seed in the East Coast Conference Championships and will take on No. 1 seeded Mercy. The game will take place on Wednesday, May 1 on the campus of Mercy College. Game time is still to be determined.
