Manchester, N.H, - Two early goals scored by Saint Anselm College sealed the loss of 2-1 against the Redhawks at Melucci Field Wednesday evening.
The game started quickly as Saint Anselm garnered a corner kick resulting in goal by sophomore forward Taylor Silverstein
The Redhawks were quick to answer in the next 5 minutes of the first half with 3 shots on goal by
Alex Perez Vega,
Jaheed Loblack, and
Dylan Ruiz all of which were blocked by Saint Anselm goalkeeper Jacob Rostkowski.
At the 20 minute mark, a cross by midfielder Michael Buderwicz to forward Zach Elliot from the Hawks resulted in another goal for Saint Anslem.
The final 30 minutes of the first period remained scoreless but continued to be a battle of equal forces as the Redhawks shut down the six other shots on goal by the blue and white.
The start of the second period, the Redhawks came out fierce with an early shot on goal by Vega and then by
Ethan Leonard. The men's soccer team continued to rally only allowing Saint Anslem three shots, two of which were on target and saved by senior goalkeeper
Joe McNulty.
With one second to spare senior forward
Terrell Spencer took a long range shot from midfield, evading the Saint Anslem keeper and giving the Redhawks the first goal and only of the night.
Mens soccer will be back home on September 14th hosting Seton Hill University at 3 p.m.
