OT Goal Gives Redhawks Second Win of Season

ORANGEBURG, N.Y - The Roberts Wesleyan women's soccer team walked away with a 2-1 double overtime win against Dominican College on Thursday afternoon.

Freshman Morgan Razanno scored the game winner in the 108th minute to lead the Redhawks to its second victory of the season. The goal was also Razanno's first collegiate goal. The assist on the goal came from senior Israela Groves.

The first 23 minutes of the opening half was a battle between the Redhawks and Chargers with each racking up three shots on goal. But it was Dominican who got on the scoreboard first in the 24th minute off a cross from Danai Chimedza to Megan Geary.

The Redhawks did not take long to answer. Minutes later Justine Sharda scored her first goal of the season bringing the game to 1-1. The assist came from Taylor Rutland.

Senior goalkeeper Kelsey Brinkel helped Roberts stay alive in the second half, keeping the score locked at 1-1. Brinkel finished with six saves in net.

Neither team was able to build up any offense in the overtime periods but the Redhawks took advantage of the one opportunity that arrived when Razanno found the back of the net.

The Redhawks will continue on the road as they play Bloomfield College on Saturday September 14th at 1:30 p.m.
