CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The Roberts Wesleyan men's soccer team picked up its first win of the season in dominating fashion with a 4-0 shutout win over California University of Pennsylvania on Wednesday night.
Junior
Johanz Tusiime led the Redhawks with a goal and an assist. It was his first points of the season.
Roberts took a 1-0 first half lead in the 32nd minute when Tusiime's free kick was headed in by sophomore
Dylan Ruiz. Prior to getting on the board first it was starting goalkeeper
Jared Gibbons who kept the Redhawks in the game making four saves in the first 30 minutes. Gibbons made 10 total saves in the game, a career high.
The Redhawks' offense took off in the second half scoring three goals. Tusiime notched his first goal of the season in the 51st minute off the feed from
Alex Perez Vega. Senior
Shaq Rouse then added the Redhawks' third goal in the 68th minute and then Vega added a goal of his own just 20 seconds later to make the score 4-0.
California (Pa.) outshot Roberts 16 to 11 in the game and had the edge on corner kicks six to two but Gibbons and the Redhawks' defense was able to keep the clean sheet.
Roberts Wesleyan (1-3-1) will host the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
