ROCHESTER, N.Y. – For the second game in a row the Roberts Wesleyan men's soccer team shut out its opponent by the score of 4-0. This time the Redhawks took down the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown.
Roberts netted three goals in the first half and one in the second. Sophomore
Dylan Ruiz had two goals on the day including the first goal of the day in the 19th minute off the feed from
Jaheed Loblack.
Less than 10 minutes later Roberts tallied its second goal of the match when
Johanz Tusiime headed in a cross from
Terrell Spencer.
Alex Perez Vega had the third goal for the Redhawks just five minutes before the end of the first half.
Ruiz found the back of the net again in the second half in the 71st minute following a penalty kick opportunity to help Roberts take a 4-0 lead. The penalty kick came after
Marc-Anthony Blackburn was taken down in the box while trying to get a shot off.
The Redhawks were in total control on offense outshooting Pitt-Johnstown 23-7 with 13 of those shots hitting target. Ruiz had six shots himself and five of those on frame.
Roberts Wesleyan (2-3-1) has now recorded two straight wins and will travel to take on Saint Michael's on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
