ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Roberts Wesleyan women's basketball team broke their seven game win streak at home falling to New York Tech Friday night, 39-57.
Roberts was the first to get on the board with a layup from Tashayla Sutorius and the teams traded point for point for the entirety of the first quarter with the Bears ending up on top by four, 16-12.Â
The second quarter brought an 11-2 run by the Bears and seven total points by the Redhawks giving New York Tech an edge of 33-19 to end the first half. In the final ten minutes Roberts started to chip away at the 50-27 gap scoring 12 total points in comparison to the Bears nine, but were evenly matched and ultimately unable to reclaim the lead ending the game 57-39.
Sara Nady paced Roberts with a total of 11 points going 4-for-12 (33.3%) from the field and 3-for-7 (42.9%) from beyond the arc. Nady has consistently been in the top three leading scorer this season and is approaching the 1000 point for her career with just 84 points remaining.
The team went 14-for-54 (25.9%) from the field, 5-for-25 (20.0%) from the three point line and 6-for-7 for free throws (85.7%).Â
