ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The women's basketball team started out the year hot with two double doubles and a career high by Samantha Volpe all culminating to a 102-32 win over Cheyney University Saturday afternoon.
Roberts started the game with a 24-0 run and ran with the game from there holding Cheyney to an 18.2% shooting average. The Redhawks were 38-for-62 (61.3%) from the field, 12-for-26 (50%) from beyond the arc and 12-for-17 (76.5%) from the free throw line with 51 bench points boosting Roberts to their dominating win.
Volpe was the leading scorer for the Redhawks with 24 points also marking a career high. The freshman also had eight rebounds and two assists against the Lady Wolves.
The senior duo of Emliy Miller and Sara Nady each added a double double to their senior season. Miller racked up 13 points and ten rebounds with Nady in stride putting up 12 points, ten assits, and three rebounds.
Taryn Wilson, Madison McCormick, and Amanda Barnell were three among the other six Redhawks to score in double digits each scoring 11 points.
Up next, Roberts will start at home conference play as they take on the University of Bridgeport on Friday January 10th. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
