Redhawks Rally for a Senior Night Win Over UDC, 74-63

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - A dominating first quarter set the stage for a senior night win for the women's basketball team as they took on the University of the District of Columbia Sunday night, 74-63.

Sara Nady hit another career high on her last regular season game at home scoring 28 points for the Redhawks. The senior also added two rebounds and two steals to her stat sheet. Other Redhawks who surpassed the double digit mark were Emily Miller with 15 and Taryn Wilson with 13.

The first quarter gave the Redhawks the momentum they needed to sail to a win as they put up 21 points on the Firebirds giving them a 15 point advantage as they headed into the second quarter. UDC attempted to chip away at the deficit as they scored only one point less than the Redhawks in the second quarter but Roberts stayed one step ahead ending the first half 34-27.

The Firebirds started out the third quarter hot managing 24 points to the Redhawks 14 and closing the deficit to the narrowest it had been all game of only five point.  Roberts rallied in the fourth to keep UDC at bay and ended the game 74-63.

The key to the win was the Redhawks hot shooting from the field going 23-for-45 (51.1%) in comparison to the Firebirds who went 24-for-72 (34.7%). Roberts also went 7-for-17 from beyond the arc and 22-for-24 (91.7%) from the free throw line.

Up next, the team is on the road for the final two games of the regular season, the first being New York Tech on Friday at 6 p.m.
