Men’s Lacrosse Overpowers Lake Erie, 15-10

PAINESVILLE, Ohio - In their first ever away win in Painesville, the Redhawks beat the Lake Erie Storm 15-10, extending their two-game win streak.

In an impressive first quarter, five different Redhawks got on the scoresheet as the game started hot.  In the second, a Dan Doviak pass to Hunter Lemieux would put Robert's up by 7, their largest lead of the night.  The Storm would close out the half with two quick goals, sending the teams into the break 9-4.

In a third quarter that was more tense than Roberts would have liked, Lake Erie picked up four more, despite giving up an early goal to Matt Gademske, and Hunter Lemieux finishing off an extra man opportunity. In the fourth period, whatever Coach Delfino said to the team between periods must have worked, as they picked up four-straight and would see out the win up by five.

While the Redhawks may have been out shot 28-42 by the Storm, great defensive positioning and 14 key saves by Pat Hynes laid a strong foundation for the win.  An impressive Mitch Streety display led to Roberts out beating the Storm on ground balls 36-29, with Streety picking up 14 on his own, 10 more than any other player.  In terms of scoring, Hunter Lemieux tied his personal single-game record that he set all the way back in his Redhawk debut, picking up eight points on four goals and four assists.  Matt Gademske would also notch four goals, grabbing one assist along the way.

The Redhawks jump to 4-3 with the win, and will head home next to open up ECC play against Frostburg State University on Saturday, March 14th at noon.
