Women’s Basketball Bows out of ECC Championships Against Molloy, 62-41

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. - In a contest of two halves, the Redhawks fell to the Molloy Lions on Wednesday in the East Coast Conference Championship 62-41.

In the beginning quarters of play, the game could not have been closer as Roberts entered the first break leading by just a single point.  With the teams even on points scored in the second period, the Redhawks would finish the second half with a tight 27-26 lead.

Just a few minutes into the second half, a Molloy layup would take the lead away from Roberts and they would trail for the rest of the game. An impressive Lions display limited the Redhawks to only making six of their 23 attempts (26%) through the latter periods.

Despite the team's struggles, Senior Emily Miller was able to cap her last performance as a Redhawk with an impressive double-double, racking up 13 points and 14 rebounds.  She would be the only Roberts player to break double-digits in any stat on the night.

While it may have met an unfortunate end, the Redhawks can look back on this season with pride.  They finish 15-12, going 8-8 in the ECC. While Coach Cilfford will certainly miss the production of seniors Jessie Cooke, Sara Nady, Emily Miller, and Tayshala Sutorius, the strong showing of this year's freshman class will excite him as the Redhawks prepare for next season.
