Redhawks' Season Ends In ECC Semifinals

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan College women's soccer team's spectacular late-season run came to an end on Thursday night.
The Redhawks (7-8-1), who won seven straight matches to secure a berth in the East Coast Conference tournament, fell to top-seeded Molloy 5-0.
"Tonight just wasn't our night," Roberts coach Sarah McClellan said. "Molloy is nationally ranked for a reason and they finished their chances."
Dana Poetzsch scored three goals for the Lions (16-2), who are ranked 16th in NCAA Division II by the United Soccer Coaches.
Molloy held a 12-2 advantage in shots on goal. Roberts' best scoring chance came from sophomore Jessica Savage in the final five minutes of the game. Sophomore Nicolette Knauf made seven saves for Roberts.
Roberts was making its first ECC Tournament appearance since 2016.
"The second half of our season was remarkable and our staff is very proud of the way the team played to reach the ECC semifinals," McClellan said. "We are excited to build on that and are thankful to our seniors for their leadership and commitment to our team."
Roberts celebrated its seniors – Makenzie Muoio, Justine Sharda, Eboni Redman-Coombs, Haley Cole and Sydney Regan – prior to last Sunday's regular-season finale against Lincoln University.
Molloy will host No. 2 Mercy in the conference title game at noon on Sunday.
