Box Score WINONA LAKE, IND. – The Roberts Wesleyan College men's soccer team saw its season come to an end on Saturday afternoon.
Grace College scored three times in the final 20 minutes to defeat the Redhawks 4-1 in the Midwest Region Final of the National Christian College Athletic Association Tournament at 1
st Source Bank Field.
"It was a bad day to have a bad day," Roberts coach
Scott Reber said. "They were one of the better sides that we saw all year long. … They were strong, organized and solid all the way around. We got off to a bad start and they made us pay."
Grace took a 1-0 lead in the first half before junior
Justin Robertson converted a nifty pass from
Dylan Ruiz to tie the game for Roberts (8-7-3) with 32:55 remaining in the game.
The Chargers (11-9-1) retook the lead in the 69
th minute and scored twice in the final 10 minutes to ensure the victory. Grace will advance to NCCAA nationals in Kissimmee, Fla., later this month.
Martim Cordoso and Ze Maria Goncalves each scored twice for Grace.
Caleb DaSilva made six saves for Roberts.
"I am super proud of the guys," Reber said. "They gave it an honest effort all season."
The match marked the final game for Redhawk seniors
Ethan Leonard,
Johanz Tusiime,
Jordan Sullivan and
Jeremiah Ochepo.
"We are going to miss those four seniors," Reber said. "But, we have a good core coming back and are optimistic for the future."
