RUTHERFORD, N.J. -
Rian Carter hit a go-ahead three pointer with one second remaining on the clock to give the Roberts Wesleyan men's basketball team a 95-92 road win over Felician University on Tuesday night.
Â
With 40 seconds left in regulation, the Redhawks had possession on an inbounds underneath their own basket. After running the shot clock and game clock down 18 seconds,
Amari Lee drove to the basket but missed the layup. Felician got out in transition for a wide-open three pointer from the right corner, but the shot went long. Carter gathered the rebound, dribbled down the court and pulled up for a straight on three-pointer with 1.3 second left. The ball took one bounce off the rim and then through the net to give Roberts the lead and the 95-92 win.
Â
To get to the game-winning three pointer the Redhawks had to storm back from a 19-point deficit in the second half. Midway through the half, Roberts used a 10-2 stretch to cut the lead to four with eight minutes to go in the game.
Â
Ja'Kair Sanchez led Roberts with 21 points and 11 rebounds for his second double double of the season. Senior
Shane Fanning had his best scoring output of the year with 21 points.
Amari Lee scored 16 points and led the Redhawks with three steals.
Â
Carter scored 11 points, with 6 points coming in the final two minutes of the game on a pair of triples.
Â
Roberts (2-2) will play again on Dec. 4 on the road against Walsh University. Tip-off is at 6 p.m.
