Women's Basketball Falls to Nationally-Ranked Gannon - 1/26
Roberts Wesleyan hosted nationally-ranked Gannon University for the first time in program history Tuesday night but a hot shooting night for the visitors and a tough night on the boards led the Redhawks to their second loss of the season, 76-48.
Sophomore guard Madison McCormick was the first to put points on the board for the Redhawks but the Knights were able to attain the lead with about 4 minutes left in the first quarter and remain ahead for the rest of the game. McCormick finished with 12 points, 2 blocks, and 2 steals while older sister Paige McCormick ended with 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists.
The Golden Knights shot 47.6% (30-for-63) from the field and scored 27 points off the bench opposed to the Redhawks 3 points. Gannon also outrebounded Roberts 43-28.
The Redhawks (2-2, 0-0 ECC) face a sudden change in schedule with Wednesday's home game against ECC newcomer D'Youville being postponed. Roberts will prepare to travel to Daemen for the first time this season on Friday evening for a 6 p.m. tip.
