Late Game Heroics Take Down D'Youville, 2/24
ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Redhawks returned to their home court Wednesday night as they took on D'Youville College for the third game in a row. The Saints were ahead of the Redhawks for over three quarters of the game, but a crucial foul that took out D'Youville's leading scorer and a great offensive fourth quarter propelled the Redhawks to a come back win.
The Redhawks routed the Saints the past two games by at least 17 points, putting a lot of pressure on this game to continue the streak. Three ties and nine lead changes created a close contest until the very end, but a three-pointer by Senior Paige McCormick with five minutes left put the Redhawks up for good. The Redhawks outscored the Saints 26-13 in the fourth quarter to notch their sixth win of the season.
McCormick recorded her second double-double of the season with a season-high 21 points and 10 rebounds. She also contributed 3 assists and a steal. Junior Taryn Wilson played a crucial role in the fourth quarter, as she scored 13 of her 20 points in those 10 minutes. Junior Dimitra Gkizani dominated the boards with 12 total and added 7 points to the score as well.
