Redhawks Men's Basketball Week in Review: Feb. 22-28

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan men's basketball team closed out the regular season this past weekend with a pair of wins over Molloy College on the road. On Saturday Roberts won 86-80 and on Sunday the Redhawks won 74-66. Roberts Wesleyan improved the season record to 8-6 overall and 6-4 in the East Coast Conference.

In Saturday afternoon's game it was seniors Reggie Clark and Isaiah Lewis paving the way for the Redhawks with both players combining for a total of 45 points, over half the team's offensive production on the day. Clark recorded a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds. The Rochester, N.Y. native was 6-for-11 from the field but found success getting to the free throw line where the guard was 10-for-12. Lewis scored a season-high 21 points on an efficient 7-of-12 shooting including 4-of-7 from 3-point range.

In Sunday's matchup, Clark again led the scoring effort with 17 points.

The score remained tight late in the second half. Molloy took a two point lead, 66-64 with 2:29 on the clock. But Ja'Kair Sanchez hit a timely 3-pointer for Roberts with 1:37 left to take the one point advantage. Following a steal by Armon Nasseri on Molloy's offensive possession, Clark connected on a long range shot of his own and got fouled. The four point play was the final blow to the Lions as Roberts picked up its second win in two days.

The win locked in the No. 3 seed for the Redhawks in the ECC Championships. The team will now go up against thruway rival No. 2 seeded Daemen on Friday evening in Amherst, N.Y. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
