ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The No. 24 ranked women's lacrosse team kicked off the 2021 season with a 15-10 win over Walsh University on Friday afternoon.
The Redhawks dominated the first half, beginning with a 4-0 run. The team extended the lead throughout the first half and at halftime held a 9-2 advantage.
Walsh found its groove on offense in the second half to close the gap, scoring the first three goals of the half to bring the score to 9-5. Roberts fended off the comeback attempt by answering with three goals of their own. A late surge from the Cavaliers of three goals to close out the game wasn't enough as the Redhawks carried on to its first win of the season, and its first win in almost one calendar year.
Taylor Nathan led the Redhawks with four goals. The senior had seven shots, including five on frame.
Madison Bell, a transfer from Central Michigan added three goals and two assists. East Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Year,
Emily Tomei scored three goals on the day.

Natalie Arieno made 10 total saves for Roberts to pick up the win.
Next up, Roberts will host Gannon University on March 6 at 1 p.m.
