ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's soccer team fended off the visiting Mercy Mavericks for the first 63 minutes during Saturday's homecoming game, but it wasn't enough as Mercy closed the game strong to win 2-0.
Mercy's Skyler Schwenkler capitalized on a corner kick opportunity to score the first goal of the game in the 63rd minute. The second goal was scored by Nikki Bermudez in the 87th minute.
Roberts defended well, only allowing four other shots on goal outside of the two goals. But the offense never got going as the Redhawks were only able to manage four shots and just one on net.
Next on the schedule for Roberts is a midweek matchup on the road against Daemen. Gametime is set for Wednesday at 1 p.m.
