Redhawks' Win Streak Reaches Six

ROCHESTER, N.Y. –  The family of Georgia Haverlock had never seen her play a college basketball game at the Voller Athletic Center before Saturday afternoon.
The Roberts Wesleyan College sophomore hopes that they come back soon.
Haverlock scored a career-high 19 points as the Redhawks (10-5, 7-2 East Coast Conference) rolled to their sixth straight victory, a 65-49 triumph over Saint Thomas Aquinas College.
"I think they are good luck," Haverlock joked after connecting on 7 of 14 shots, including 4 of 7 from beyond the 3-point line.
To be honest, luck probably didn't have a lot to do with Haverlock's performance.
"I am proud of her, she's working hard," Roberts coach Kevin Clifford said. "She is a special player, she can score at all three levels – layups, midrange and 3-pointers."
Senior guard Taryn Wilson carried the Redhawks early, scoring nine points in the game's first five minutes as Roberts jumped to a quick 11-6 lead.
"It's really important to start off strong so that we can get the lead and keep the lead," said Wilson, who scored 14 of her 16 points in the first half.
Sophomores Toni Neely-Primus and Danielle DiCintio contributed eight and seven points, respectively for the Redhawks. Senior Dimitra Gkizani added six points and nine rebounds while Haverlock finished with six boards and four assists and DiCintio had four rebounds and five assists.
"That is what is so great about our team, it is not just focused on one person," Wilson said. "Anyone can show up and have a good game and that makes us tough to defend."
Haverlock's first basket, a '3,' came with 8:37 to play in the second quarter. She scored 10 points in the period as Roberts connected on 15 of 28 (53.3%) field goals in the opening half to build a 35-23 at the break.
Haverlock scored eight more points in the third quarter, including a three-pointer at the buzzer that gave the Redhawks a 53-37 advantage.
"I actually thought that felt really good when it left my hand," Haverlock said. "That's why I started backing up toward the bench. Both Dani and I were excited about that one."
Roberts built its lead to 20 points on a free-throw by Grace Dow with 8:39 to play. STAC rallied to pull within 12 before the Redhawks closed out the game.
It will be a quick turnaround for both teams as they will meet again at 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon back at the VAC.
"We'll take a look at the film and make some adjustments," Clifford said. "I thought that our defense carried us today along with our balance."
