Box Score ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Coaches know that it is difficult to defeat an opponent twice in one season, let alone twice in two days.
One day after dropping a 65-49 decision to Roberts Wesleyan College at Voller Athletic Center, Saint Thomas Aquinas College rebounded to defeat the Redhawks 62-54 in an East Coast Conference women's basketball game on Sunday afternoon.
"It was just a different game today," Roberts coach
Kevin Clifford said. "They came out, they got the lead and they were physical with us. STAC did a good job, you have to give them credit."
Senior guard
Taryn Wilson scored 19 points and sophomore guard
Georgia Haverlock added 18 points and seven rebounds for Roberts (10-6, 7-3 ECC), which saw its six-game winning streak end. The game was the makeup of a game originally scheduled to be played at STAC on Dec. 19.
Roberts tied the game at 40 on a jump shot by
Toni Neely-Primus with 6:19 remaining in the third quarter before the Spartans (7-12, 6-4 ECC) went on an 11-2 run to take a 51-42 advantage into the final period.
STAC limited the Redhawks to 15 of 52 (28.8 %) shooting from the field, held a 12-0 advantage in bench scoring and outscored Roberts 28-4 in the paint.
Roberts concludes its four-game homestand against conference leader Daemen College on Alumni Night at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
