SLIPPERY ROCK, PA. – The Roberts Wesleyan University men's soccer team has felt right at home on the road this season.
Junior forwards
Justin Robertson and
Tamas Nagy scored second-half goals as the Redhawks rallied from an early deficit to defeat host Slippery Rock University 3-1 in a non-conference match this season.
Graduate student
Marc-Anthony Blackburn assisted on both second-half goals for Roberts (6-4-2, 2-1-2 East Coast Conference), which improved to 5-1-1 in away matches this season and is unbeaten in its last five road games.
"We did what we had to do to get the win," Roberts coach
Scott Reber said. "Any win is a good win, so we will take it."
The teams played to a 1-1 tie at the half after Slippery Rock capitalized on a defensive breakdown to take a 1-0 advantage in the 14
th minute. The Redhawks recorded the equalizer in the 38
th minute after a Slippery Rock defender headed a direct kick into his own net.
Roberts did not waste any time getting on the board in the second half as Robertson finished a cross from Blackburn from about six yards out for his fourth goal of the season.
"I thought the buildup on that play was really good," Reber said. "It was a nice buildup, a nice cross and a nice finish. Goals like that give our players confidence and give out team confidence."
Nagy tallied his seventh of the season in the 73
rd minute. Slippery Rock initially cleared a corner kick, but Blackburn gathered the loose ball about 35 yards out and found Nagy near the top of the box. Nagy turned and deposited the ball in the far right corner from 15 yards out.

Jared Gibbons made six saves in goal for Roberts.
The Redhawks host College of Staten Island in an East Coast Conference match at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
