ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – The Roberts Wesleyan women's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 match to Molloy on Saturday afternoon.
A pair of five-point runs helped the Redhawks win the first set over the Lions, 25-19. Back-to-back aces by freshman
Olivia Price capped off the first offensive run for Roberts to give the team a 9-7 lead. Later in the set four attacking errors by Molloy and an ace by
Caleigh Schroeder led the Redhawks to a 21-13 advantage.
In the second set, Roberts grabbed a 12-11 lead but Molloy responded with six straight points to take control of the set. The Lions advanced to a 25-22 win.
After a loss in the third set, Roberts pushed the fourth set into extra points. The Redhawks owned the first set point with a 24-22 lead, but three straight points by Molloy gave the Lions the advantage. Price had the answer for Roberts with a kill to tie the set at 25-25. After an attack error by Molloy to give Roberts the lead once again, the Lions connected on three straight points to win the match.
Sophomore
Sydney Yanak had 10 kills and
Sarina Pasquantonio totaled 16 assists to lead the offense for Roberts.
Celine Malosa had a career-high eight blocks.
Roberts will be on the court again on Sunday at noon when the Redhawks take on Queens College.
